This summer music course will give students the opportunity to work with professional artists on the process of preparing, researching and rehearsing repertoire ranging from Renaissance to Brazilian and contemporary music.
Lessons will take place in the Christengemeinschaft Marburg (Anne-Frank-Straße 10). The final concert together with the Trio Viola da Samba is on 28 July 2019 at 17h also in the Christengemeinschaft.
Marburg is a beautiful, historical university town located 100km north of Frankfurt am Main.

Preparation for the concert will include:
Vihuelas de arco (Renaissance viol) and Ensemble – Fernando Marín (Spain)
Renaissance Singing – Nadine Balbeisi (USA – Germany)
Clavichord and Ensemble – Jean Kleeb (Brazil – Germany)
Lectures:

Early Bowed Viols and their musical practice – Musical Interpretation through iconographical observation – Fernando Marín
Josquin Desprez: his compositional technique, expression and creativity -An analysis of the Mass Fortuna Desperata – Jean Kleeb
Being Spiritual and Becoming an Individual: The Renaissance and the Present - Jochen Butenholz- Priest of the Christengemeinschaft
For amateurs and or semi-professionals with experience in either singing or bowed vihuela (viola da gamba) playing. Music will be sent in advance. (Learning music before arrival is a course prerequisite).
Fees (not including travel or accommodations): 170 € / 140 € Students
